Christina Mary Bongiorno is an Australian artist based in Victoria’s Ovens Valley, whose creative journey spans a lifetime of learning, teaching, and personal rediscovery. She studied Art & Design, majoring in Graphic Design, at The Gordon Institute of Technology in Geelong, before continuing her studies in Melbourne at Mercer House, where she ultimately qualified as an Art Teacher.
Drawn early to the mystery, movement, and colour of abstract art, she has long been inspired by artists such as Georges Braque, Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky, and Pablo Picasso, particularly in the realm of abstract portraiture.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Christina returned to painting as an emotional outlet, translating lived experience onto the canvas through expressive works created primarily in acrylics, sometimes incorporating crayon and collage. She has been exhibiting and selling her work at local art shows for the past two years.
