Now Exhibiting at The Teller Collective: Seasons of the Kilns by Simone Dole

The Teller Collective welcomes Simone Dole, whose work captures the deep connection between memory, place, and time.

Originally inspired by still life and artists like Margaret Olley and Cressida Campbell, Simone’s focus shifted after relocating to Northeast Victoria. There, the landscape became her muse, and painting en plein air—out in nature—became central to her practice.

Her exhibition Seasons of the Kilns honours the old tobacco kilns that once defined the region. These oil paintings, begun outdoors and refined in the studio, reflect on migration, labour, and the resilience of the community that built them.

Through painting, I reflect on my memories of visiting the kilns as a teenager and the stories of farmers and families—many of them Italian immigrants—who shaped this land.
— says Simone.

Simone Dole’s works have featured in more than 40 exhibitions and are held in private and public collections across Australia.
